Real Estate Business Vs. Vacation

It seems that the seasons are changing very quickly this year.  The rain has arrived and so the adjustments begin.  Rain coats are pulled out of closets and umbrellas placed in key locations.  The best part of the weather change for me as a Real Estate Broker is that I have pockets to put my cell phone, lock box key and business cards in, leaving my hands free to hold an umbrella as I make a v-line for the front door.
Most of the leaves are still hanging on the trees as they change to brilliant Gold and various shades of Red but are beginning their descent to the ground soon to pile up along the sidewalks and cover yards. Grass that was dry and discolored is turning Green as it is revived by the Fall rain.  We are so fortunate to have seasons here in Oregon and can appreciate the vast differences of each changing season as we move throughout the year.
Real Estate which many say also has seasons continues to improve in Salem Oregon and surrounding areas.  While many are planning vacations for the holidays many Real Estate Brokers will postpone due to the level of business.  When you are self-employed you have to be available to work when the work is available so,  for me personally I will put off my vacation and work while I enjoy the changing of seasons and after the New Year try to sneak away. I am thrilled that business is so strong and I will be able to enjoy the holidays meeting new clients and selling real estate.

Back to the Basics

There is business out there but you have to come to the office and work.
Many Brokers complain that the business opportunities in real estate are few these days.  Yes, there has been a decline; however, there are still many clients to serve.  Those who have been in the business and built up a referral base should be living in their databases marketing all their past and present clients.   Creative marketing is alive with many options for all whether electronically or getting back to the basics using the US postal service.  The business has changed dramatically over the past years  but customer service is still at the top of the list so staying in contact and promptly returning phone calls, text messages and emails is necessary because in the fast paced world timing plus customer service is everything.
